What is Assignment and how can I assign my unit?

Assignment" means that another person takes over your lease obligation. As per the Ontario Standard Lease Agreement, you may assign the rental unit to another person only with the landlord's consent.
 (“A contract assignment occurs when a legal tenant transfers the contract to someone else before the lease expiry date”) The landlord cannot arbitrarily or unreasonably withhold consent from a potential assignee.
The assignment requires your Landlords consent before proceeding with an Assignment.

* What is expected during the Assignment Process?

• Upon receiving your Assignment request. Our office will be reaching out to the landlord to obtain landlord consent.
• Please allow 2-3 business days for the owner to acknowledge and accept this assignment request
• Once approved, you will be provided with information on how to proceed with your Assignment.
• Depending upon the submission of your applicants’ information, approval, and of necessary documents.
• The turnaround time is between 2-3 weeks
