Yes, you gain interest with your last month's rent deposit.  The interest is based on the annual rent increase percentage ( Ontario Rent Increase Guidelines).

The last month's rent interest can be applied to the Last Month's Rent deposit or the final month's rent payment. Any outstanding amounts once the tenancy has ended will be refunded to you by cheque.
